The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in City Beach, designed by Forbes & Fitz in the 1970s, has been listed on the State Register of Heriatge Places. Heritage Minister John Castrilli said the church was a striking landmark, showcasing contemporary 1970s’ architecture.
“Holy Spirit Catholic Church highlights an important period in history, where the use of architecture was in harmony with the changing liturgical practices of the Catholic Church,” he said.
“The building consists of dramatic, sweeping curved brick walls, and an open interior with no barriers at the sanctuary area, encouraging greater interaction between the congregation and priest.”
