So apparently this is the final final Northbridge Link Proposal. Really. Premier Barnett released a statement on Sunday with the final plans showing the new 13.5 hectare site developed above the sunken rail line. I kind of feel like this Northbridge Link thing’s gone on for ages, so now its hard to look at it objectively. A town square is going to “add vibrancy and attractiveness” with the capacity to hold 6000 to 8000 people and will be surrounded by cafes, accommodation and retail. Forward works is due to start at the beginning of next year and be finished by 2018. Looks like both the State and Federal Governments have chipped in $250 million, and then there’ll be a fair bit of private investments. Still unsure what’s happening with the Entertainment Centre site though, either high-density residential or the new house of Channel 7, maybe.
