The latest issue of the Institute’s WA Chapter magazine ‘The Architect’ is on-line now. Its supposed to be an education issue but doesn’t really say too much, considering the current state of education work. I suppose its a hard one to speak out about – for the experienced education architects they don’t want to risk on-going work by speaking out against a ridiculous system, and for the ‘virgin’ education architects they don’t want to say anything because they are happy to have the work while everything else has dried up.
This edition of the magazine only includes two WA case studies: a Montessori School by Edgar Idle Wade Architects and the Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases by Hames Sharley.
The other articles, like the Jan Gehl comment and the travelling articles are quite a good read. There are some nice projects in there and its great to finally have some letters from some architects / students. I hope a few more people take this opportunity to speak out about issues that affect them in the Perth architectural community.
